Joseph Mark O'Shields, 56, died 30 June 2007 in WakeMed of Raleigh.

Born June 30, 1951, in Lansdale, PA., he is the son of Joseph William and Phyllis LePelley O'Sheilds of Burlington. Mark was a member of the Bay Leaf Baptist Church in Raleigh and was a very active volunteer with the Special Olympics of Wake County.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Will Gatling officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Jackie Talton O'Shields; son, Billy O'Shields of Raleigh; daughter, Tracy O'Shields Mitchell and husband Scot of Wilson; step-son, Joey Parrish and wife, Danielle of New Bern; brothers, Stephen O'Shields of Haw River and Troy O'Shields and wife, Sherrie of Burlington; sisters, Sharlene Way and husband, Walt of Cooperburg, PA., Linda Landt and husband, Jim of Macungie, P.A., Nancy Ballard and husband, Ron of Burlington, and Elaine Pate and husband, Andy of Snow Camp; and two grandchildren, Ethan Mark Mitchell and Mackenzie Jordyn Parrish.
